gender-fluid fashion

"Fashion should be liberation rather than imprisoning the ego" -
 Alexander McQueen
I was born into the world where gender norms are still deeply rooted in our lives and culture. A feminine boy is feared, hated and rejected by society, whereas a girl is always expected to "act like a lady". Gender culture is a topic that should not be overlooked.
Over the past few years gender norms have been challenged by LGBTQ+ community which created a huge shift in gender-fluidity in the fashion industry.
Gender is a pretty serious stumbling block. Historically, it dictated what kind of work people could do, how they should behave and what clothes they should wear. All these factors prevent you from expressing yourself and truly revealing your potential.
Gender-fluid movement in fashion is reshaping the industry rules. It breaks the boundaries between clothing traditionally worn by men and women and celebrates both feminine and masculine part in every person regarding their gender. Minority communities—Black, queer, trans and Latinx—have long dressed outside the box, laying the groundwork for today’s movement.
It is not about a boy wearing a dress or a girl wearing a suit, but about expressing one's true self through clothes without it being dictated by gender.
"What we are seeing right now is a seismic shift in fashion. Recognition of fashion without borders, reflecting the tastes of today's youth." -
Neiman Marcus
There is a whole new generation of people who have a fresh perspective on fashion. As a part of Gen-Z,  I can say that we refuse to be put in a box when it comes to self-expression. We are way more open-minded about gender identity, sexuality and other social topics. Fashion is never going to be the same as it was before since it reflects all the social changes happening in our society. I strongly believe that its future is fluid.
